As many of you already know, inmates at three Maricopa County jail facilities have been on a hunger strike for the past week, while some have been participating since the beginning of the month. One of America’s premiere thug cop clowns, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, has said the facilities will be on “lockdown” until inmates start eating again.
This column will be short and to the point. It is only the evening “meal,” aka “the slop” that inmates are refusing to eat, because it is disgusting and likely contaminated with sweat from the preparers, flies, and maggots. So here is a simple solution to end the hunger strike. Arpaio needs to eat the “slop” every day for the remainder of this week, with the inmates at a different jail location each day. And since primadonna Arpaio loves TV cameras so much, it can be filmed by various media outlets and bloggers, so Arpaio can prove the food is edible and fit for human consumption. He will, however, have to be handed one of the random trays of foods the inmates get as they stand in line, and not some pre-screened, “special” tray.
The Arpaio clown has been in the news for other thuggery as well. Maricopa County Superior Court judge Barbara Mundell recently told NBC 12 in Phoenix that Arpaio’s goons have staked out in front of her house and that several marked Sheriff’s patrol cars have driven by her home recently, in a petty attempt at intimidation. Another Maricopa County judge, Gary Donahoe, recently said he may simply start releasing inmates because Arpaio has repeatedly failed to deliver incarcerated defendants to court on time or, sometimes, doesn’t deliver them at all. Arpaio also childishly threatened the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors when they voted to cut the county budget, specifically from Arpaio’s office. The sheriff told them, “I’ll tell you one thing: he (Board Chairman Max Wilson) better be careful on cutting my budget, since I am investigating the Board of Supervisors.”
